As Clutter Gallery looks back at the MUD FLAP: A Tennessee Wolfman Show, we took this opportunity to ask him a few questions to get to know what makes him howl!
Who is Tennessee Wolfman?
I’m Charles V. Bennett Jr. , the Tennessee Wolfman. I’m a self taught artistic wizard.
Tell us a little bit about your background, and what else you do.
I’m from the swamps of Florida transplanted to the heart of Appalachia only to return to my gator wrasslin roots.
Who/What are your biggest influences?
The human condition and the absurdity of life.
Tell us something special about this exhibition with us.
This show is a labor of love as it’s my first solo project since relocating to Florida. There’s been a lot of turmoil and change in the last year and art has been my constant. My escape from the pressures of life.
What are a few of your favorite tools/materials?
It seems that wood is my medium of choice. It wasn’t intentional. It just was everywhere and I thought that I might as well make use of such an abundant resource. Skateboards have been a favorite.
How did you find out about designer toys?
I found them because they are awesome and I don’t intend to ever grow up!
What advice do you have for an aspiring artist?
Don’t quit. Don’t get discouraged. Keep making. Don’t make for anyone but yourself. Art is a healer.
